NOVENA FOR THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF OUR BLESSED MOTHER, BODY AND SOUL INTO HEAVEN (Feast day: Aug. 15th; Period: August 6th to 14th)
The Church celebrates this great feast of Our Mother Mary on the 15th of August, each year. The Novena in honour of the feast starts on the 6th of August and ends on the 14th of August. August 15th is a holy day of obligation for Catholics, so it is compulsory that one attends Mass on this particular day. Below is the Novena Prayer for the feast. It is to be repeated each day for nine days
NOVENA PRAYER:
Mary, Queen Assumed into heaven, pray for me that I may be worthy of the promises of Christ. O Glorious Queen, Immaculate Mother of God, Mary ever Virgin, who, when the course of your earthly life was finished, was taken up body and soul into the glory of heaven, look down with compassion upon us poor banished children of Eve; draw us to the heart of your son opened for us on the cross and obtain for us a spirit of detachment from honours and worldly wealth, impurity of heart and a divided love for Jesus, such as will enable each of us to dedicate ourselves to Him, each day of our living in your words, “be it done according to thy words”. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen (here mention your request/petition for the novena).
The Holy Mother of God has been exalted above the choirs of Angels in the heavenly kingdom.
LET US PRAY:
Almighty and everlasting God, you raised up the Immaculate Mother of your son, Mary ever virgin, body and soul to the glory of your heavenly home, may we, by faith, keep our minds and hearts fixed on the same abode as our final, destiny, and so one day come to share the glory with you and your Divine Son in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
